Suggested itineraries

1.  SNOWBOARDING OR SNOW SKIING

Take to the slopes for some exciting snowboarding or snow skiing in Vermont at Killington Ski Resort, located just one mile from The Inn of the Six Mountains. Killington offers seven peaks and the highest lift-serviced skiing in New England, as well as the greatest vertical in the east at 3,150 feet. There are 200 trails that cater to everyone from the most expert skier to the complete novice. 2. ICE FISHING OR DOG SLEDDING

For an authentic taste of the north, try ice fishing in the area. Lake trout, northern pike, and other fish are abundant beneath Vermont’s frozen lakes. You can rent an ice shanty, purchase bait and tackle, and find local guides nearby. Local outfitters have everything you need for a fabulous ride, including skilled guides, equipment, lessons and more. After you’ve experienced the real Vermont, return to the comfort of The Inn of the Six Mountains for a warm drink by the fire to recount the day’s adventures!

3.   SNOW SLEDDING, ICE SKATING, OR A SLEIGH RIDE

Enjoy some old fashioned fun with the kids when you go snow sledding down the snow-covered hills, or ice skating on one of the frozen lakes nearby. In the winter, ice skating is available just minutes from the inn, and sledding is only a short drive away. In the evening, take a romantic interlude for just the two of you with an evening sleigh ride through the beautiful wooded hills of Vermont. Sleighs are pulled by a team of Belgian horses, with 20-minute rides in the evenings.

4. CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING OR SNOWMOBILING

Thrill seekers can explore the beauty of Vermont and get the speed they need with cross-country skiing or snowmobiling. Everything you need, including skis, snowmobiles, lessons and guides, are available just minutes from The Inn of the Six Mountains. Killington snowmobile tours through the Calvin Coolidge State Forest Park System offer winding trails with stunning panoramic views of the snow-covered Green Mountain peaks. Once you’ve worked up an appetite, enjoy a hearty meal with friends in our own Cedars Restaurant and Lounge.

5.  SNOWSHOEING OR INDOOR ROCK CLIMBING
